How to Don an Arkeras Gown
Supporting a person’s sense of well-being is the overarching goal of an Arkeras gown through its fabric and its construction. The front-to-back design and attached wraparound scarf both aid in dressing oneself, even if you have limited range mobility. Those same features assist a caretaker dressing someone else. Here we offer our best methods on how to don our patient gowns in each of these scenarios.
For independent dressing

While holding neckline, insert one arm into corresponding sleeve and pull to shoulder.
Repeat on opposite side. -
With one hand behind your back, grab opposite scarf and pull to front around shoulder.
Repeat on opposite side. -
Adjust scarf and neckline as desired.
For caregiver-assisted dressing

Insert the person’s arms into sleeves.

Wrap one scarf around back neckline to opposite shoulder and pull to front.
Repeat on opposite side. -
Adjust scarf and neckline, and voilà—you're done!
For independent dressing with limited range mobility

Seated comfortably, lay gown's open neckline over your knees.

Next, the goal is to create a loop out of the neck scarves.

From the neckline, follow toward the right side to lift attached scarf.
Drape it across your lap to the left. -
Repeat on opposite side: from the neckline, follow toward the left side to lift attached scarf.
Drape it across your lap to the right. -
With both hands holding where the scarves cross over, pull fabric toward self to create a loop.
Insert your head into the loop. Bend at waist as needed. -
Ensure scarves are exposed at front of gown.

Insert one arm into corresponding sleeve. Repeat on opposite side.

Adjust scarf, neckline, and back panels, as needed.
